Personality:If your eyes weren't open, you wouldn't know the difference between dreaming and waking.
Adrian walks a fine line between lucidity and madness. Much of his intense personality can be attributed to Spirit, a dangerous form of psychic magic that only a handful of vampires are capable of using. Because of Spirit, Adrian is able to do numerous amazing things - healing, dream-walking, see auras and, oh, wake the dead but it comes at a terrible price: his own sanity. Adrian tries to drown out the darkness that comes with Spirit with alcohol and drugs but he can never quite get rid of it and hates that the madness, such as it is, is what makes him so unique.
Adrian doesn’t do anything halfway. He feels the highest highs and lowest lows and his moods swing dizzyingly fast. He’s self-destructive and pushes himself far too much, afraid, as always, that he’s going to end up letting someone down because he simply can’t be trusted to be responsible. Most of his life, he’s been treated as a ne’er do well who won’t amount to anything and Adrian is more than happy to live up to that expectation for the most part. His father views him as a constant disappointment, something he tries to shrug off, and everyone else seems content to pat him on the head and excuse his behavior.
Except that Adrian doesn’t want to do that anymore. Adrian’s biggest critic is himself and his own self-scrutiny can be excruciating. He doesn’t want to try to do anything worthwhile because he’s afraid to fail at it and, as these things often go, he becomes his own self-fulfilling prophecy. There are those out there who inspire the best in him - Jill Dragomir, Sydney Sage, Rose Hathaway. Each of these women push him to be greater than the sum of his parts and to move beyond using his condition as a crutch and to use it to help people instead. And Adrian is trying - he just fucks it up a lot.
Adrian is charismatic, both as a function of the strong psychic magic of Spirit and his own charming personality; he’s able to read people well and able act accordingly to draw out even the shyest person in engaging and sincere conversation. He’s sarcastic and witty, quick with a quip even if he’s drunk more often than not and plays the quintessential party boy to the hilt. He has a deep appreciation and love for beauty in the world and creates his own through art, hoping to channel some of the madness of Spirit into something productive. He’s fiercely loyal to those who are able to get under his armor of designer clothes and witty barbs and will fight for what he believes in, even if fighting isn’t the most prudent path to take.
The most important thing to remember is that Adrian is locked in a constant battle - not with an external foe, like most Moroi and dhampirs, but with himself and he’s always just a knife’s edge away from losing everything to that madness.
I am choosing to bring Adrian from Silver Shadows after Sydney's kidnapping because it leaves him in a vulnerable place; Sydney is so often his emotional rock and without her, he's a mess. One of the most interesting things about Adrian is his tenuous grip on reality and strong emotions - such as love being denied - tend to bring out the worst in him; his magic power, Spirit, affects him much the way bipolar disorder would and it takes a lot for him to stay on an even keel. I think this exit point provides the most dynamic entrance for Adrian and brings him from a place where not everything in his life is resolved and Teleios can be used as a stepping stone to a new, improved Adrian.
Adrian himself can provide a lot to the gameplay at Teleios. He’s very charismatic, both because of his unique abilities as a Spirit user and as a function of his own personality and being in a situation where there’s little to do but socialize is a natural and comfortable one for him. He also would be served well by being in a place where people don’t know who he is. Being Adrian Ivashkov means either being hated and written off as useless (Exhibit A: Daddy) or being excused and dismissed by people who care about him (Exhibit B: Mommy). Teleios doesn’t provide that luxury and any reaction Adrian garners will be solely based upon how he acts. I think this will give him a chance to prove himself as something other than a vampire party boy and instill some confidence in him that he can be more than a barely functioning alcoholic. Ultimately, I would like to see him engaged with a job of some sort and maybe even teaching art to others, utilizing his unique gifts in a positive way instead of in his usual self-destruction.
Powers/Abilities:
Adrian is a Moroi vampire who utilizes Sprit. As a Moroi, he is sun sensitive and does need to drink blood in addition to regular food. He is beautiful and slim, again, owing to his Moroi heritage. Drinking blood to the point of draining someone, be they human, Dhampir or Moroi, will turn him into a Strigoi, which is more like a traditional vampire. This is something all Moroi are vigilant to avoid as the Strigoi are their greatest enemies.
Spirit is a psychic-based power that allows Adrian to compel others, to visit another person's dreams, heal and, in rare cases, bring someone back from the dead. Spirit has a heavy toll on the bearer of the power and induces madness, which means most Spirit users are heavy drinkers and drug addicts (Adrian himself suffers from alcoholism). Adrian is also incredibly creative, owing to his gift of Spirit, and is quite an accomplished artist.
**Note** While Adrian will not have access to the magic aspects of Spirit upon his arrival, I would very much like for him to still have the negative effects of it. It's my thought process that being a Spirit user for so many years has permanently messed up his brain chemistry and he's bipolar now whether or not he uses any magic.

Samples:Actionspam Sample:[Adrian is slumped over a half-empty tumbler of scotch with a cigarette dangling from his lips. His hair has moved past messy disarray into cross-the-street-this-guy-is-homeless and his nails are stained blue with paint. His eyes are red-rimmed and sad, his voice hoarse with emotion. Sydney is gone. He's not anywhere near Palm Springs, he can't reach her in dreams and now he's gone and gotten himself drunk so that Spirit doesn't make him want to slit his wrists. He's betraying her, isn't he? Simply by being here, he's betraying her and it's written on his face for everyone to see. When the bartender speaks, Adrian lifts a finger in response.]
Keep the scotch coming. I don't want to feel anything for the next month.
[The bartender huffs a little in response, cocks his head and Adrian knows he's probably in for a fight. Since he's been drinking so much, he can't access Spirit to compel and he's just going to have to be charming if he wants to keep drinking. He so, so wants to keep drinking. Being numb is preferable to being an emotional live wire in want of some industrial strength electrical tape. Scotch isn't exactly the best way to do that but it's all he has.]
Look, I have money. I'm going to pay. I walked here, so you don't have to worry about me driving. You are absolutely liability free on this one. Hell, I'm even a sad drunk. I'm probably not going to start a bar fight or anything if you keep serving me and I'm definitely not going to die. Now, c'mon. What does a guy have to do to get some service around here? I apprais...appresh...I'm grateful you care but...care a little less?
[In spite of the slurring, the bartender throws his hands up and leaves the bottle. It isn't the most artful compulsion he's ever done and Adrian's certain it was only natural charm and not Spirit but it got the job done. He wraps his hand around the bottle and tips a little more into his glass, sloshing it over the sides.]
Here's to electrical tape.
[The guy sitting beside him gives him a strange look and Adrian shrugs, flashing a brilliant smile. He's careful to keep his fangs hidden, though, because while he's drunk he's not stupid. Moroi outing themselves in public is just asking for the Alchemists to come down on them like a warhammer.]
It's a metaphor. I'm going to spare you the details, it's a little convoluted, but let's just say that single-malt scotch is the best electrical tape on the market. It's industrial strength and im...you know, I'm not going to finish that. I'm just going to finish this.
[Both the bartender and his fellow drinkers roll their eyes as Adrian tips back his scotch but he's drunk enough that he simply doesn't care. It doesn't matter. He'll never see these people again.]
